THOSE WHO BELIEVE AND THOSE WHO DON'T

Those who believe (in the Qur'an) and those who follow the Jewish (Scriptures) and the Christians and the Sabians and who believe in Allah and the Judgment Day and work righteousness shall have their reward with their Lord; on them shall be no fear nor shall they grieve.(2:62)

Those who believe (in the Qur'an) those who follow the Jewish (Scriptures) and the Sabians and the Christians any who believe in Allah and the Judgment Day and work righteousness on them shall be no fear nor shall they grieve(5:69)

By reading the verses above one can understand that Jews Christian, and who believe in Allah , the Judgment Day and do good deeds will go to heaven.

Modernizers promote that believe in only two articles of faith (believe in God and the Judgment Day) is enough to take you in heaven. Who is going to have faith in rest three articles of faith?

If one read the verses in it’s proper context and along with other relevant verses of the Quran, one will easily see that the verse, infact , promises salvation in the other world only to those who accept Islam.

Other Relevant Verses :

The Religion before Allah is Islam (submission to His will): nor did the people of the Book dissent therefrom except through envy of each other after knowledge had come to them. But if any deny the Signs of Allah. Allah is swift in calling to account.(3:19)

If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to Allah) never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter he will one of the losers (3:85)

But no by thy Lord they can have no (real) Faith until they make thee( Muhammad (SM) ) judge in all disputes between them and find in their souls no resistance against thy decisions but accept them with the fullest conviction.(4:65)

These verses have clearly hit the root of the modern concept which tries to put Islam & disbelief on the same footing in the name of tolerance preached by Islam, thereby claiming that every faith of the world can each become a source of salvation, on condition that its followers perform good deeds. This is nothing but an attempt to demolish the principals of Islam.

To make an easy understanding lets take an example of a doctor & patient. When a patient goes to a doctor in day 1,the doctor diagnose the patient and prescribe him/her medicine. And the doctor for review ask the patient to come after 7 days. Then after sevens days doctor prescribes new medicine depending on the status of the illness. And after 3rd review doctor may give new medicine or will give the patient a new set of guidelines to follow rest of life for preventing re-occurrence of the illness.

This is how Allah (swt) has kept changing/updating the religion of man as time changed. And as a final guidance He has given us Islam.

But why those verses 2:62 and 5:69 were revealed at the first place. These verses was revealed in the early period of Islam, when Muslims where persecuted, tortured, oppressed by Jews, Christian, and Pagans. So as to make Muslims position acceptable in those ignorant society Allah(swt) revealed those verse. Allah knows best.

Later on when Islam gained popularity & strength and had strong numbers of believers the verses 2:62 and 5:69 was abrogated by the verse If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to Allah) never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter he will one of the losers (3:85) that is after the coming of Muhammad(sm) on the earth, no other religion except Islam, will be accepted from anyone.

It is our religious duty the take the message of the Quran to the non-Muslims (& also to Muslims). To show them the path to truth and salvation. For details refer to my article “Invitation from Allah” (http://lifecone.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html).

But we are not the one to judge who will go to heaven and hell. We don’t have the authority to even think who is going to heaven and hell. We muslims must have one basic rule in mind which is we all are slaves and Allah is our Master. Only a Master decides the slave’s fate. If we still persist on that judging people then we will be committing a great sin; an unforgivable sin i.e
SHIRK.

Only Allah is The Sovereign, The All-Knowing, The Judge, The Just, The Protecting Friend, The All-Forgiving,

So Allah says:

Then, verily, We know best those who are most worthy of being burnt therein. (19:70)

Is not Allah the Best of judges?(95:8)
